Xu Lejiang

Xu Lejiang was born in Xintai of Shandong Province in April 1959. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in June 1976. He became Vice Chairman of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the ACFIC CPC Committee in April 2017, and was elected ACFIC Executive Vice Chairman and ACGCIC Vice Chairman three months later, and shortly afterwards Chairman of the China Society for Promotion of the Guangcai Program. He was appointed Deputy CPC Secretary of Xiaocao Work Team of the Pengzhou Commune of Le’an County of Xiangxi Province during his 3-year work there as a schooled young man starting 1974. He became a field worker in the East China Geological Exploration Bureau in Jiangxi in 1977 and then took up four years of study of metallurgical equipment in Jiangxi Metallurgy Institute in 1978. His next job, in Shanghai Baosteel Factory which was later renamed Baoshan Steel Group, lasted from Feb. 1982 to Oct. 2016, during which period he climbed the career ladder from an assistant engineer to the Group Chairman and CPC Secretary. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology and its CPC Committee member in Dec. 2016. He has undertaken an MBA training program in W. Virginia of USA, acquired a Master’s degree from a Fudan University-Hong Kong University joint MBA program through on-job study, and completed a post-graduate program on theories of the science of law at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.
