Gao Yunlong attends CGCC World Chinese Entrepreneurs Summit 2021
The CGCC World Chinese Entrepreneurs Summit 2021, organized by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC), Hong Kong, and themed with “Connecting Greater Bay Area, Serving Belt & Road”, was held simultaneously both online and offline in Hong Kong on June 17, 2021. Gao Yunlong, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), attended the opening ceremony of the summit via video link and delivered a keynote speech.
According to Gao, China is accelerating the building of the new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other. Chinese President Xi Jinping has stressed for many times that the new development paradigm is not about pursuing closed domestic circulation, but open and mutually reinforcing domestic and international circulations. China will not close its door to the world, and it will only become more and more open. In the context of building a new development paradigm, the important role of the Greater Bay Area as the strategic fulcrum of China’s new development paradigm and the docking window of the Belt and Road Initiative will be more prominent.
Gao pointed out that the Greater Bay Area should make greater efforts in three aspects to promote high-quality development of the Belt and Road. First, the Greater Bay Area should play a leading role in building a new development paradigm. It should continue to deepen reform and opening up, raise its position on the global value chain, and accelerate the building of a world-class city cluster, so as to better play its leading role in building a new development paradigm. Second, the Greater Bay Area should promote innovation-driven development, and forge new advantages in international cooperation and competition. It should build a regional collaborative innovation community, create sound policies and a good social environment for innovation, and promote the “dual circulation” economic development with innovation as the driving force.
It should strengthen the coordinated development of industrial chains and develop industrial clusters to form new drivers for industrial upgrading. It is necessary to establish trans-regional coordination and cooperation, and promote the common development of regions around the Greater Bay Area as well as countries and regions along the Belt and Road routes through complementary advantages and collaborative development. Third, the Greater Bay Area should consolidate the cultural foundation and build a platform for dialogue among international civilizations. It should give full play to the advantages of frequent exchanges between Eastern and Western civilizations, promote the dissemination of modern Chinese values, and push Chinese culture to go global. Young people in Hong Kong and Macao should be encouraged to take an active part in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, strengthen their sense of identity and belonging with the motherland, and take the initiative to present China to the world.
Gao said that China’s economic development and the Belt and Road Initiative would provide a vast market and immense business opportunities for entrepreneurs from all over the world, including Chinese businessmen. Chinese businessmen should grasp the opportunities, unite as one, continue to play their role as a bridge, strive to be the connector, builder and contributor of the Belt and Road Initiative, and actively participate in the management of the global industrial chain and supply chain, so as to achieve the healthy development in building a new development paradigm and win a brilliant future in the new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way.
Qiu Xiaoping, vice chairman of ACFIC and a member of the Party Leadership Group, and Ma Jun, director of the communication department of ACFIC, attended the summit as well.
